Description:
The UKCRC-registered Peninsula Clinical Trials Unit (PenCTU) at Plymouth University provides multi-disciplinary academic support to researchers and clinicians for the design and conduct of high-quality clinical trials and other research studies. We have a vacancy for a Senior Trial Manager to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with substantial previous clinical trials experience to join a CTU which has retained full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) since 2007. PenCTU has a growing portfolio of studies, funded by the NIHR, charities and other major non-commercial research funding bodies. The Senior Trial Manager will be responsible for the provision of clinical trial management knowledge and expertise to develop and deliver a customer-focused, cost-effective service that supports the strategic direction and development of the PenCTU and the wider University’s agenda. The Senior Trial Manager will work alongside the PenCTU Director and senior colleagues in the day-to-day management of the PenCTU, the management of a portfolio of high-quality trials and promotion of the Unit to potential Chief Investigators. Central to the role is the provision of methodological advice on the design and operational management of trials to ensure studies are delivered efficiently and managed in line with sponsor, regulatory and research governance requirements. The Senior Trial Manager will directly manage one or more Trial Managers and other PenCTU staff as appropriate. You will facilitate cross-faculty and cross-institutional research collaborations, working with methodologists and Chief Investigators from Plymouth University, other universities and NHS Trusts both locally and nationally. The Senior Trial Manager will also contribute to the publication of the trial protocol and results. Over time, you will be expected to develop a portfolio of trial methodology-related research. There will also be opportunities to contribute to teaching, supervision of postgraduate students including PhD students and mentoring less experienced colleagues. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis, however, applications are welcomed from candidates wishing to work part-time. Please indicate your preference in your supporting statement. PenCTU has adopted a hybrid model, where employees are only required to come into the office on the same day as their team. The rest of the time, unless there is a meeting best done in person, they'll have some flexibility to work from home. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Professor Victoria Allgar by email victoria.allgar@plymouth.ac.uk Flexible working options including job share will be considered. Interviews are likely to take place in week commencing 15th November 2021 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. Please note, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the University is currently implementing a number of safety measures as per Government advice therefore the successful applicant may be required to work from home in the first instance.
