Dow Jones appoints new general managers
Through a series of appointments and restructuring at Dow Jones & Co., Daniel Bernard, vice president of marketing for The Wall Street Journal Digital Network, has been promoted to general manager of The Wall Street Journal Online. Bernard will replace Gail Griffin, who will take over as the general manager of Barron's Online. Matt Ellsworth, who was previously associated with Yahoo! Finance at the search engine Yahoo! Inc., will assume Bernard's marketing position. The newspaper publisher has also hired Jim Bernard as general manager of MarketWatch.com. The Wall Street Journal Digital Network is composed of websites for The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, MarketWatch, and AllThingsD.com.
Lin Bickelmann to receive TMA Manager of the Year Award
Lin Bickelmann, founder and CEO of Encore Artists Management, will receive the TMA Manager of the Year Award. The Talent Managers Association (TMA) will present the award at the sixth annual Seymour Heller Awards Dinner on September 19, 2007. The award is given in recognition of Bickelmann’s actions to develop and nurture many artists. In 1996, Bickelmann established Encore Artists Management, a professional talent-management and production company that offers representation and career guidance to actors, directors, producers, and writers. The company, with nearly 50 fifty clients on its client list, also produces movies for television and film.
First Republic Bank appoints David La Velle to senior relationship manager position
First Republic Bank has appointed David La Velle to a senior relationship manager position. In his new position, La Velle will deal with high-net worth individuals and families and offer private banking, private business banking, investment management, trust, and real estate lending services at the bank's office in Los Angeles, CA. Previously, La Velle was vice president and an investment and trust consultant, private client services, at City National Bank in Los Angeles. He has even served as a certified financial manager and financial advisor at Merrill Lynch in New York. La Velle has a B.A. in Finance and Business Administration from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, and holds Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses.
