Manager employment refers to different types of managerial level jobs or positions. Virtually all businesses and establishments have a person or persons having jobs with duties and responsibilities which amount to management, and they don’t necessarily have to be designated as managers.

Management is the act of getting people to work together in order to accomplish a desired goals and objectives. Managers plan, organize, lead, direct, and control an organization or effort towards a purpose. Also, because organizations are also systems, management can then be defined as a human action, including design, to assist the creation of advantageous results from these systems. At present it is increasingly difficult to subdivide management into different classes. Processes now involve several categories simultaneously. We tend to think in terms of the various processes subject to management thus the numerous areas of manager employment.
Aspirants planning to take on management jobs need to consider the various roles managerial positions bring. Take for example a retail manager. This position is very focused on the customer and requires a lot of interaction with them, as well as managing staff so that they reach sales targets. However, in the retail industry managerial roles abound for instance regional managers, area managers, deputy area managers, and duty managers. Each is a step from the next and requires extensive experience in retail to move higher up the career ladder.

Another example of a manager career is healthcare managers which is another demanding position and requires in-depth knowledge about everything medically related. Responsibilities such as hospital management need the manager to manage staff, monitor medical supplies, work within a budget, observing patient care, dealing with legal and patient issues and managing healthcare networks. Healthcare management could encompass even more and this is just one example.

The most common form of manager employment is in the standard corporate environment, where the usual role is drawing up plans, direct projects, achieve targets, predict future financial situation, come up with novel strategies in marketing, and more.
The key for aspirants is to show strong leadership qualities, high motivation and energy, perseverance, extensive knowledge, and initiative in the field where you intend to work, as well as lots of firsthand experience from working in that given industry. It is never advisable to take on a management role without having previous experience in the field you are endeavoring to work in because you will be encountering a big surprise. Some individuals can be resilient enough to take on and quickly understand completely new roles without supervision but only the most gifted or talented are capable of this.

To qualify for a manager job, most often these days, you will need to have accomplished post-graduate studies or have a Masters degree and many years of experience as well as expert knowledge of the industry you are trying to get into. Most companies won’t take the risk of hiring inexperienced people especially with regards to managerial level positions. In an increasingly global economy, some knowledge and experience in international economics, trading and communication systems as well as the ability to communicate in several languages give some advantage.

Employment outlook for manager employment is expected to stay as is. There will be little change, if any, because of the numerous aspirants these high paying jobs attract but since managers and other top executives are essential to leading all businesses and establishments, expected employment will vary according to industry and will be a good reflection of whether a given industry is growing or in decline.

According to many statistics, the general expected average annual salary of managers or other positions working in a managerial capacity ranges from $90,000 to $120,000. In smaller firms managers earn around $60,000 a year while the more seasoned managers earn about $100,000 dollars per year.
